About

I love bicycles!

Bicycles have been a constant in my life. One of my earliest childhood memories is about my first bike -- a purple 20-incher with training wheels -- that was stolen from our garage one day. Later on, I built up BMX bikes to horse around on. As a teenager, a friend and I built a 3-wheeled recumbent bike bolted together from cut-up bike frames and some salvaged scrap pipe. In college I got my first road bike to commute to class on -- an old 1970s Peugeot UO-8. However, I caught the riding bug, and ended up upgrading nearly all the parts on it, with Jerry's help at Kraynick's Bike Shop. I put many miles on that bike, even riding it in a couple MS-150 events. Around that time I built up my first MTB, reviving an old GT Talera with a new wheelset from Bike Nashbar (long before they were bought by Performance Bike).
